WOODSTOCK AND PHOENICIA, THE EASTERN CATSKILLS

Woodstock, the town most notably known for the music festival that did not actually take place there, is the center of this itinerary, but should not exclude the other towns. It is a wonderful place for scenic drives (Rte.28 in particular), exploring outdoor art, visiting some of the many craftsman that are opening their doors to consumers and yes, enjoy the kitsch. There are views of yesteryear in this area and it is nice to enjoy it alongside the changes that are happening. Kingston, an area that was thriving during the turn of the the 20th Century, is a perfect example of this. Old industrial neighborhoods are now looking alot like Bushwick and it's a beautiful contrast to the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains.
